PROFESSIONAL TEACHING EXPERIENCE
- Teaching Assistant. Department of Sociology, University of Colorado
Spring 2010 -- Introduction to Sociology (SOCY 1001).
This is a large introductory course of approximately 500 students. I served on a team of five Teaching Assistants. Each of us was assigned approximately 100 students. Responsibilities included teaching three times per week, developing teaching materials, lesson plans, and written assignments. Contributed to examination materials by creating questions and consulting/advising on content. Graded papers and exams, tracked attendance and class participation, and met with students privately as needed.

Fall 2010 -- Social Psychology (SOCY 4031).
This is an upper level sociology course of approximately 100 students. I was the sole Teaching Assistant for the course. Responsibilities included meeting with students one-on-one to answer questions about assigned reading and assignments. Read and grade papers, grade exams, track attendance.

Fall 2009 -- Deviance (SOCY 1004).
This is a large introductory course of approximately 500 students. I served on a team of five Teaching Assistants. Each of us was assigned approximately 100 students. Responsibilities included teaching three times per week, developing a syllabus, creating teaching materials, lesson plans, and written assignments. Collaboratively designing exam questions with other TAs and consulting/advising on content. Grading papers and exams, tracking attendance and class participation, and meeting privately with students as needed.

All Teaching Assistant positions involved familiarity with online student contact/management and working with the University's online course content management system -- a "Blackboard, Inc." online learning portal (called "CULearn" at the University of Colorado).
OTHER TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I'm deeply involved in community outreach, education, and development. I've planned, designed, and led dozens of workshops, presented and lectured to grade school through graduate level classrooms, student groups, community groups, religious groups, government agencies, NGOs, and the general public. Topics include: Nonviolence, Nonviolence theory, commodity chains, animal rights and animal protection, human rights, environmental issues, effective activism, everyday activism, collaborative social justice issues, industrial racism/classism, conscious consumerism, ethics, and personal responsibility.
